Hi Nicholas! Thanks for sharing your view. I'm starting to see a pattern where perfectionism seems to become harmful quicker in those who are already high on the trait. Meaning, those who show perfectionistic tendencies from childhood already, where the trait is their preference. It is their way of being. It is easier for them to lean too much on it and then perfectionism ends up harming them and not helping them. I also do believe it's not always just in academia or achieving, it could also present itself in how you parent for example. Hope this answers your question.
